I found an mp3 of a song labeled “Broken Earth” by a band called “Soft Machine” many years ago, and I’ve been wondering who the actual artist was since then (I know that Soft Machine isn’t it). I’ve seen it brought up on many different forums and email lists, but I’ve never seen a definitive conclusion.
The lyrics go roughly something like this:

might lights have turned from red to gray
down a dead man’s curve
hear the dogs outside
all the strays lay quiet for awhile
hoping for a break in the broken earth, earth
chorus:

use anything you can find
